Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. The Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) continues to closely monitor the federal government shutdown and its potential impact on programs that provide essential food assistance to Hawaii families. If the federal shutdown continues into November, federal funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program may be unavailable, which could delay or prevent the issuance of November benefits. DHS will share more information about the Hawaii Relief Program on October 29, 2025. This program will provide eligible families with dependent children the opportunity to receive payment support for housing or utilities. We understand that this uncertainty can be stressful. Keiki also develop social, intellectual, leadership and perceptual motor skills through classroom lessons, field trips, cultural activities, performance opportunities and community service. Applications for the 2021-2022 school year are still being accepted based on availability, priority application period for the 2022-2023 school year is November 1st through March 1st. Aukukui | Niuolahiki Online Hawaiian Language Courses ‘Aha Pūnana Leo expanded its flexible, online program to offer teachers across the state, an opportunity to receive HME teacher certifications and meet early childhood education requirements. The Niuolahiki Distance Learning Program extends its culturally rooted language program throughout the world. Hale Kipa ʻŌiwi ‘Aha Pūnana Leo has become a nationally recognized model for Native American language revitalization, and a resource for indigenous groups interested in reviving and perpetuating their traditional languages by providing assistance to develop language and cultural revitalization programs.

The church is committed to providing this outreach to the community and everyone who has a need for food is welcome. Please bring your own bag for food pick up. Central Union Church Windward is a Hawaii Food Bank Agency authorized to receive FDA products, therefore our program is required to have our clients sign a form confirming the need and number of individuals in the household. (Food Pantry) Saint Theresa Catholic Church provides food pantry outreach for those who are low income or in need of food on the 4th Thursday per month 8:30 am - 10:00 am. During the holidays, the pantry will be available only on the 3rd Thursday of November and December 8:30 am - 10:00 am.

Assists in the location and recovery of missing children. Connected to 49 mainland state clearinghouses as well as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Traces children and their abductors through connection with these databases and other public records as well as coordination with the efforts of the FBI and police departments of all states. Child Protective Services, Interpol, the U.S. Department of State and countries who are signatories to the Hague Convention. The police should always be notified first in the event that a parent suspects a child has been abducted. Accepts volunteers to assist with basic administrative assistance, special events and graphic designing.

(American Red Cross of Hawaii) Provides immediate emergency assistance to victims of disasters, including food, shelter, clothing, crisis counseling and other services. Offers classes in CPR, first-aid, aquatics training. For military personnel, provides emergency communication services, counseling and referral services. Provides international tracing service. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (Hoa 'Aina O Makaha) Hoa Aina O Makaha provides programs based on Hawaiian cultural values and traditions. The focus is on strengthening family sustainability through activities that encourages family participation. Hoa Aina O Makaha is a resource to the schools by providing interactive hands-on activities that broadens understanding of subject matter and enhances classroom lesson plans; activities include gardening projects and animal care. Small scale agricultural farming produces herbs and other produce.

(CPS) The Child Welfare Services Section operates a 24-hour child abuse and neglect reporting line. Child Protective Services (CPS) receives all reports of child abuse or neglect, provides case consultation and assessment, and provides crisis intervention on behalf of children in need of immediate protection via police.

Private school includes grades 6-12 for girls.

Offers parenting education classes to help raise responsible, cooperative, and caring children. Classes are designed for parents of children birth - 18 years old.

(The Maui Farm) The Family Strengthening Program is a farm-based residential program providing transitional housing and life skills training for families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic violence and economic issues. With a focus on the whole family, the program provides opportunities for daily learning and application of healthy life skills and effective parenting strategies in a safe home environment, and strengthens families to remain intact and healthy. Working in collaboration with partner agencies including Women Helping Women and other homeless services provider agencies, The Maui Farm’s services strengthen the continuum of care for struggling families. We provide a housing and family strengthening component after emergency shelter services have been maximized, and before families move on to long-term affordable housing in the community. The average duration of program participation is six to eighteen months. Shared housing is provided on-site at The Maui Farm, with monthly rental fees determined in compliance with federal HOME Program regulations.
