Healthy Mothers Health Babies Coalition of Hawaii (HMHB) offers "Hawaii Cribs for Kids," a safe sleep education course, for low-income, high-risk pregnant women and their families. This program provides education on the risk factors, how to create a safe sleep environment, and tracks the baby's health throughout its first year of life. Health centers and community partners refer income-eligible parents to HMHB, and each eligible family receives a free Pack n' Play crib after completing the class so their child has a safe place to sleep.

Offers rewards of up to $1000 to tipster who give information that leads to arrest or indictment of persons committing crimes or for the recovery of stolen property. All calls are confidential. Different unsolved crimes will be publicized in paper or television. Also accepts information on missing persons.

(YWCA of Kauai Sexual Assault Treatment Program) Offers confidential crisis intervention counseling and support services for rape victims. Will accompany victims to hospital for examination, or to police for reporting, and to court if prosecution takes place. Provides speakers to schools and organizations, public education on sexual assault and harassment. Offers counseling and support services for children who have been sexually abused or molested by non-family members. Provides confidential group and individual counseling for adults molested as children.

Early Intervention Services are for children from birth to age three who have developmental concerns and focuses on improving the physical, cognitive, communicative, adaptive, social and emotional development of the child. As parents are the child’s first teachers, services are provided through one primary early intervention professional using parent coaching strategies. In addition, the program helps families by providing information, demonstrations and support to caregivers that helps them better understand their children’s developmental needs and how to meet them. Care coordination is available to help families utilize resources at home and in the community. Support Plans are developed in partnership with the family and service team that build on strengths and priorities of the family. (PATCH POD Program) The Preschool Open Doors (POD) program provides families with low and moderate incomes subsidies to send their children to preschool for up to two years prior to entering kindergarten.

Youth identified as requiring intensive mental health services may be enrolled with the Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) located in the school district of their home school. They are assigned an FGC Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) at that time. The youth may, and often will, continue to receive School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services and supports from the Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with the intensive mental health services.

Provides opportunities for youth socialization, recreation, education and cultural awareness in a safe and positive environment. Offers camping trips, ceramic, computer and graphics, cooking, creative writing classes; dodgeball, Hawaiiana - hula, music, language-library visits, pool table, study hall, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, windsurfing lessons and woodworking. Sponsors a boys club, girls club, bistro nights, community workdays and monthly community dances. Serves as a community resource to access professional programs and other youth programs.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. Quality Care for Hawaiian Keiki (QCHK) is a child care subsidy program for Native Hawaiian in Maui County. QCHK goals are to help Native Hawaiian/Part Hawaiian families become more economically self sufficient as well as helping their children to become school ready. Program provides assistance to families to pay for child care, for children ages 0-13 and up to 19 years old for children with special needs. Child care includes Licensed Family Child Care Homes, Infant and Toddler Centers, Preschools, Before/After school Programs, Intercession care as well as License-Exempt providers. Provides help with child care providers in Maui County with any needs that they might have in the areas of training, health, safety and licensing.

New Life Body of Christ provides food for low-income families and persons who are homeless.

(Sexual Abuse Treatment Services) Provides comprehensive services for families and individuals who have experienced sexual abuse within the family. Services are provided to child and adult victims, non-offending partners, alleged juvenile and adult offenders, and siblings. Treatment is provided through individual, dyad, family therapy and an extensive group program. The various components of the program are designed to reinforce each other for more comprehensive treatment. Provides group counseling, individual counseling, mother-daughter counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling services for victims of incest, their siblings, non-offending parents, and offenders.

(Ko'olauloa Health Center) Provides health screening such as blood pressure screening, blood tests, breast examinations, chest x-rays, drug/alcohol testing, hepatitis testing, pregnancy testing, psychological testing, sexually transmitted disease screening, etc. Other services include flu shots, information and referral, immunizations, well baby care, dental care, health education and more. Kokua Harvest is Hawaii Island’s food rescue project. We prevent food waste at its source, build community resilience and connection, and strengthen access to healthy, nutrient-dense fresh fruit and vegetables. We harvest and distribute excess produce to low-income communities throughout Hawaii Island. Through the act of rescuing and sharing food, we connect and nourish our community to build stronger relationships and a deeper appreciation for food. Food rescue (also known as “gleaning”) is the ancient tradition of collecting excess fresh food from farms, gardens, restaurants, or other sources and donating it to those in need. It is a successful model for reducing the waste of valuable produce, and it gives low-income individuals access to fresh and locally-grown foods that are not always available in their communities. Hawaii is fortunate to have a year-round growing season and a long cultural tradition of sharing and growing food. Still, every year thousands of pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables go to waste on farms large and small. Backyard fruit trees and excess garden produce also go unharvested. (Therapeutic Crisis Homes) The Therapeutic Crisis Homes (TCH) program provides youth the opportunity to stabilize with trained TCH parents who provide them with support and guidance they need to return to their families safely. Services are offered to each youth based on his/her individual needs. Youth are provided with individual counseling and family counseling with the ultimate goal of reunification with their families within 3 to 7 days. Crisis Home Parents provide a safe environment for youth ages 5 years old - 17 years old to stabilize their emotional and physical situation in time of crisis. Services included support, guidance and individual as well as family counseling to stabilize the situation so that youth can reunite with their families within 3-7 days. Trained staff professionals also help to develop an after-care plan for families and referrals to public and private follow-up services.

(ATV, Alternatives to Violence) Professional counselors on call to help youth who are in psychiatric crisis or to supplement the efforts of their caregivers.
