(Ohana Finding) Family Finding is a process designed to identify, locate and engage family members of children and youth who are in foster care. Family Finding utilizes database case mining and internet searches to identify and locate family and other possible relatives. Individuals who are identified as possible relatives are verified via phone contact and/or letters, and names of confirmed family members are compiled onto maternal and paternal family lists. These lists are then submitted to Child Welfare Services (CWS), the GAL, and the EPIC Ohana Conference coordinator or the Ohana Connections specialist to assist them in engaging relatives to help care for, provide support for, or reconnect to the child in care. (Orchestral Music Education for Youth, HYSA) The Hawaii Youth Symphony advances critical and positive links between music study, academic achievement, and social emotional development with programs that service youth through orchestral music education, performance opportunities, and community engagement. HYS envisions a Hawaii where every young person can experience the timeless value of music, learn to play a musical instrument, or otherwise embrace a lifelong appreciation for musical learning. During the academic year, HYS operates three full-symphonic orchestras and four string orchestras, instructing students who range in ability from absolute beginners to very experienced. Education and performance are key elements of the HYS curriculum. During the summer months, HYS conducts two outreach programs: Summer Strings geared toward elementary school children; and the Pacific Music Institute (PMI), a music immersion program for middle and high school students from all islands of Hawaii, the mainland and the Asia/Pacific region. Family Support Unit does paternity establishment for the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA). Assists in establishment of paternity and child support for children born out of wedlock. Paternity and support may also be established for children born during a marriage but whose natural father is not the husband. Paternity may be established in certain circumstances when the absent parent lives out of state.

Parents And Children Together provides a 12-month residency to domestic violence survivors without children who are working to find safe, permanent housing. (Food Pantry) Saint Theresa Catholic Church provides food pantry outreach for those who are low income or in need of food on the 4th Thursday per month 8:30 am - 10:00 am. During the holidays, the pantry will be available only on the 3rd Thursday of November and December 8:30 am - 10:00 am.

The Kauai Independent Food Bank (KIFB) makes referrals for food to the public (individuals needing food). Referrals are made to the 50 distribution sites throughout Kauai and specifically non-profit member agencies and churches on Kauai. The KICB Food pantry on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Call for emergency food on days without a food pantry. Please bring a reusable bag and and ID if possible.

Provides after school program for Kindergarten through sixth grade students in public elementary schools, who are without adult supervision after school. Program includes homework, recreation supervision, snack, special classes and activities.

(Kids Hurt Too and HI Rising) Provides peer support groups and mentoring programs for children, teens, and their families after deaths, divorces and separation from parents resulting in out of home placements. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. Length of stay varies depending on individual needs and up to 24 months at the Transitional Apartments. Transitional Housing Program provides housing for victims who need safety and support and are ready to go to school/work. Client learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plan, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they're not responsible for domestic violence. Length of stay varies depending on individual needs.

Kahuku was the site of the first Rainbow School and has been operating continuously since 1972. We serve approximately 65 children ranging in age from 2 years to 5 years old. Our program is licensed by the State of Hawaii and all staff meet state licensing requirements. We accept DHS – Child Care Connection, Open Door, First-to-Work, Kamehameha Schools’ Keiki Pauahi Scholars Program, and Federal subsidies. All tuition payments are done through the FACTS Tuition Management program. Your child’s Form 14, current TB clearance and DHS 908 Form are required upon acceptance into the school. Parents are also responsible for a non-refundable registration fee of $175 upon acceptance. If there are no availabilities, your child’s application will be placed on the center’s waitlist.
