Reporting missing persons.

(CPS) The Child Welfare Services Section operates a 24-hour child abuse and neglect reporting line. Child Protective Services (CPS) receives all reports of child abuse or neglect, provides case consultation and assessment, and provides crisis intervention on behalf of children in need of immediate protection via police.

(LITFP) The City and County of Honolulu Department of Community Services' Low Income Transit Fare Program (LITFP) provides a discounted transit fare for income qualifying individuals. Applications accepted on a first come, first served basis. The LITFP program runs on the City and County of Honolulu's fiscal year (July 1st-June 30th), so clients will need to reapply ever fiscal year. The HOLO card may be prepaid or reloaded on a monthly basis. Do no apply if you a person with Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Provides a variety of social, recreational and educational programs for all age groups, children to seniors that includes social recreational, physical activities, after school drop-in programs, performing arts, behavioral management, sports and educational program that includes positive youth development. Summer program includes the Summer Enrichment Program.

The School Readiness Project provides developmental, hearing, vision screening and case management for children ages two to five years old in the community, at preschools or at selected events. Workshop and training presentations are provided to parents and professionals on the importance of early childhood health and development to emphasize the importance of children being kindergarten ready.

(Domestic Violence Services for Families) When child abuse occurs in the home, violent behavior towards spouses and others is also often present. After a family is required to enter the child welfare system and is discovered to be experiencing other forms of domestic violence a care plan is developed for each family member. Services are then provided for both survivors (victims) and batterers (perpetrators) of violent behavior. Survivors create a safety plan and are offered various supportive services. Batterers are assessed and provided opportunities to learn alternative attitudes and behaviors. This program works with families involved in the child welfare system who are also experiencing domestic violence. Staff work with each family to assess for domestic violence and/or risk factors related to domestic violence. A care plan is developed for each family member. The services that are available for each family include: Domestic Violence Survivor Support and Pattern Changing Groups for Victims, Individual Counseling and Support for each family member, Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focusing on children, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Children’s Support Groups, and/or Adolescent Support Groups.

(Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin - Hongwanji Mission School, HMS) Hongwanji Mission School, the first Buddhist school outside of Japan, was established in 1949 during the time of Bishop Kodo Fujitani. Transitional Apartment Program (TAP) provides housing for victims who need safety and support and are ready to go to school/work. Program participants learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plan, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. Length of stay varies depending on individual needs and up to 24 months at the Transitional Apartments.

The Salvation Army Kaneohe Corps provides families needing food a food box. Families may come once a month for a food box. Boxes may include frozen or refrigerated items. Last week of December 2025 Closed

(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. Nourishing supplemental foods: Checks to buy healthy foods such as: Milk, Peanut butter, Fruits and vegetables, Canned tuna or salmon, Juice, Whole grain breads, tortillas, Eggs or brown rice, Cheese, Baby foods, Cereal Infant formula, Dry beans or peas, Tofu, and soy milk Health and social service referrals: Help in finding health care and other community services.

Salvation Army Hilo may provide an emergency food box for those families who are disaster survivors. Call for assistance.

Rainbow Mililani opened in 1987. We are located in the heart of Mililani Town on the grounds of the Christ Lutheran Church , although we are not affiliated with any religious denomination. Our program is licensed by the State of Hawaii. We offer services to 60 children ranging in age from 3 to 5 years old. Licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Human Service and nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). All staff meet State licensing requirements. We accept DHS – Child Care Connection, Open Door, First-to-Work, Kamehameha Schools’ Keiki Pauahi Scholars Program, and Federal subsidies. All tuition payments are done through the FACTS Tuition Management program. Your child’s Form 14, current TB clearance and DHS 908 Form are required upon acceptance into the school. Parents are also responsible for a non-refundable registration fee of $175 upon acceptance. If there are no availabilities, your child’s application will be placed on the center’s waitlist. Please contact the Center Director directly to set up a visit.

Operates a nationwide hotline providing crisis intervention and information and referral for homeless, runaways, troubled youths and families.

Increases public awareness of the measures that can be taken to protect homes, businesses and property from the threat of fire. Includes information on faulty wiring and other electrical hazards, kitchen fires, smoking risks, child-related fire safety, flammable materials storage, brush clearance, fire retardant building materials and ground cover and other similar topics. Provides fire education and code enforcement. Issues special fireworks and public firework display permit. Also issues tent permits, portable extinguishers and systems permits, flammable finish permits, public assembly permits, and tank permits. Fireworks permits may be obtained from all Satellite City Halls for these holidays: New Year’s, Chinese New Year, and Independence Day (Fourth of July). For fireworks permits other than on the holidays listed, go to the Honolulu Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau. Fireworks permits will not be issued at any fire station.

(Friends of the Childrens Justice Center - Maui) Provides a safe, neutral place for child abuse investigations by trained Police Detectives and Department of Human Services Social Workers who are specialists in child abuse. Provides training for professionals in conducting effective multidisciplinary investigations that are child-focused. Tracks all reports of child sex abuse. Facilitates coordination of civil and criminal multidisciplinary meetings.

Common Grace facilitates partnerships between public elementary schools and nearby neighborhood churches in order to provide mentors for at-risk children. Volunteers goes through our basic training seminar that we have through out the school year. We look for mentors that have willing and loving hearts ready to be a friend to the kids at the local elementary school.

Provides a variety of ocean activity programs for all ages including ocean awareness, learn to swim (in the ocean), volleyball and water sports. Teaches ocean safety. Maintains a list of surf meets.

(Child Care Connection Hawaii, Arbor, CCCH) Child Care Subsidy (CCS) program helps low-income families to sustain their employment, educational efforts and job training by paying a subsidy for their children who are in the care of Department of Human Services (DHS)-approved child care providers. Unless child care is required for protective purposes, families must meet income and activity requirements to qualify for this subsidy program.

Provide in-person and online training classes available to child care providers that covers topics such as child development, health and safety standards, positive discipline, fostering social/emotional behaviors and skills, cultural diversity, and partnering with families.

The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. (Food Pantry) Living Waters Assembly of God provides food for those in need.

(Kau Family Health and Dental Center) Provides general family medical care including treatment for illnesses and minor injuries and behavioral health services. Offers physical exams, family planning services including birth control information. Routine dental care, call for details.
