The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. (SASS, Empowering Alternatives Program, EAP, Sexual Assault Response and Advocacy Services, SARAH) Operates a 24-hour crisis hotline for persons affected by a sex assault, including women, men, girls and boys. Offers information, referral and direct support to any person victimized. Support is also provided during police, medical examinations and legal matters surrounding the crime, advocacy, counseling, and therapy.

(Sultan Early Intervention Program, Easter Seals Sultan Early Intervention Program) Easterseals Hawaii provides individualized early intervention services to children under 3 with or at risk for developmental delays and their families. Services include: Development of an Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP); Parent coaching and family support; Developmental evaluations; Resources, information, and referral services; Assistance to families in transition planning for their child’s transition into the Department of Education special education, Head Start or preschool. Treatment Focus Areas: Cognitive; Language and Communication; Physical; Development; Social and Emotional; Adaptive/Self Care. Program focuses on building a support team for the family and assisting them in meeting challenges via parent coaching and building a foundation of tools and strategies that parents need to support their child’s growth and participation in their community.

(Salt Lake Park, Salt Lake Gym) Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, games and sports, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. Outdoor Outreach Program provides boys and girls a vast range of experiences unattainable anywhere else. They advance in knowledge of outdoor skills, they experience an appreciation for nature not available in the classroom or on the streets, and they learn to live and work in teams in a camp setting. The program activity is to provide the boys and girls with the adventure of camp.

Provides educational programs and resource materials in leadership development, volunteer management, public policy education and how to train others. Statewide network of volunteers. Staffed through local Cooperative Extension Services offices.

(Domestic Violence Services for Families) When child abuse occurs in the home, violent behavior towards spouses and others is also often present. After a family is required to enter the child welfare system and is discovered to be experiencing other forms of domestic violence a care plan is developed for each family member. Services are then provided for both survivors (victims) and batterers (perpetrators) of violent behavior. Survivors create a safety plan and are offered various supportive services. Batterers are assessed and provided opportunities to learn alternative attitudes and behaviors. This program works with families involved in the child welfare system who are also experiencing domestic violence. Staff work with each family to assess for domestic violence and/or risk factors related to domestic violence. A care plan is developed for each family member. The services that are available for each family include: Domestic Violence Survivor Support and Pattern Changing Groups for Victims, Individual Counseling and Support for each family member, Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focusing on children, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Children’s Support Groups, and/or Adolescent Support Groups.

(Hawaii Relief Program) Catholic Charities Hawaii has been contracted to administer the Hawaii Relief Program. Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). -One-time automobile down payment -Up to 4 months of automobile payments Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. Payments are made directly to landlords, mortgage lenders, or utility providers. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. Medicab provides a door to door transportation service for people who need assistance or need to be escorted, usually to a doctor or medical facility. Drivers are trained how to communicate and assist elderly and disabled people. The driver does not lift, carry or push anyone. Drivers do sign out customers from the hospital and assist (guide by hand) people in and out of the vehicle COVID-19 patients are asked to sit at the back seat with their masks on. The driver drives with the windows down for full ventilation.

(Alanon Family Group East Hawaii, Alateen East Hawaii) Al-Anon is a worldwide fellowship of those who feel their lives have been deeply affected by someone else’s drinking. The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend. Members, who come from all walks of life, meet to share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. Alateen is a recovery program for teenagers whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking.
