(MRTP, Maui Relief TANF Program) The Maui Relief Program is a program that provides benefits to eligible families with dependent children, or individuals, who were directly impacted by the wildfires. This program is separate from the ongoing TANF cash assistance benefit and has a different application process, eligibility criteria and requirements. The program benefits are not intended to meet a family’s recurring needs and will not extend beyond 4 months. Funding for people without dependent children is very limited. We encourage you to apply as soon as you can to be considered for assistance. When applying, please take into consideration that the current queue time is approximately two months. Survivors are strongly encouraged to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance prior to applying for support through the Maui Relief TANF Program. DHS wants to ensure families maximize available disaster relief efforts. FEMA housing has been extended through February 2027. Please use this time to secure the required documents and submit an application for MRP assistance a few months before you leave FEMA. The Program will help families with household incomes that do not exceed 350% of the 2023 Hawaii Federal Poverty Level, or individuals, with a: -One-time deposit to secure long-term housing (your family unit has a signed lease/rental agreement for 12 months or more. The security deposit must not be paid, as we cannot reimburse.) -Long-term housing payments up to 4 months (your family unit has a lease/rental agreement or is paying a mortgage) -Short-term housing payments up to 4 months (your family unit has a lease/rental agreement for less than 12 months or is temporarily staying at a hotel, vacation rental, etc.) -One-time down payment to purchase a four-wheeled personal automotive vehicle designed for passenger transportation for up to $6,000 (your family unit will sign a pending bill of sale/buyer's order before your 10-day pending deadline. (Domestic Abuse Shelters and Transitional Apartments - Oahu) Domestic Abuse Shelters provide a safe haven for those fleeing domestic violence. Program accepts abused partners and their children. A 24 hour hotline is available for referrals and resource information. The Domestic Abuse Shelters (DAS) offers up to 120 days of a safe haven, basic needs (food, clothing etc.), counseling and services for children. Program participants learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plans, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. The shelters offer: -Domestic violence crisis hotline -Lodging and food -Crisis counseling -Individual counseling -Educational workshops -Support groups -Information, referral & advocacy -Children's program -Assistance with obtaining a TRO, Housing and financial aid -Volunteer program

(LEI) LEI is a HTA-sponsored workforce development project created by ClimbHI to inspire Hawai’i’s youth to select careers in the Hawai’i visitor industry by providing them with the necessary means to achieve success. From the student’s perspective, LEI represents an opportunity for Leadership, Exploration, and Inspiration, and from the hospitality industry’s perspective, LEI provides an opportunity to Lead, Expose, and Inspire Hawai’i’s youth. The program began in 2011 with 300 Hawai’i high school students spending a day learning about the hospitality industry and the value of graduating from high school and going on to pursue a post-secondary education. During the course of the day’s program, the students meet, learn, and experience job opportunities that the hospitality industry can provide. Students also receive advice on filling out job/college applications, resumes, personal finance, and support resources. (Wendys Wonderful Kids - Adoption Services) Wendy’s Wonderful Kids offers proactive, child-focused recruitment of adoptive families for children who have been placed in long-term foster care. Sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation, this unique program provides intensive social work services to find the best adoptive home for a child by exploring all facets of the child’s family, school, and friendship circles, as well as recruiting families from the broader community. Goals: • Increase the number of foster children placed with loving, adoptive or guardianship families in Hawaii • Develop supportive and warm relationships with children waiting to be adopted/legal guardianship • Provide information and resources to prospective and adoptive/guardianship parents • Increase community awareness of foster care adoption • Streamline the adoption process • Improve the quality of life for children in the permanent care of the Hawaii • State Department of Human Services by providing a “forever” family in Hawaii
