(Community-Based Mentoring Program) Case Managers at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii work with parents, guardians, therapists, counselors, schools, and youth serving organizations to identify and pair under-resourced youth from ages 6 years old and older with one-on-one mentors. Case Managers create an outcome development plan in collaboration with the parent/guardian, child and volunteer. Plans are updated yearly. Youth and their mentors meet 2-3 times per month for a few hours each outing. Outings are selected by the youth. Mentors pick-up their mentees and are responsible for transportation and other costs they incur. Some of the costs are offset by sponsored activities and discounts at partnering companies.

Youth identified as requiring intensive mental health services may be enrolled with the Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) located in the school district of their home school. They are assigned an FGC Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) at that time. The youth may, and often will, continue to receive School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services and supports from the Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with the intensive mental health services.

(Food Pantry) Dynamic Compassion in Action distributes food boxes to persons in need and persons with low-income. Clothing and household goods are distributed at the same site and during same food pantry hours. Volunteers are accepted, but please call first. We accept donations of clean and gently used small household items and clothing. The food distribution is normally a drive through. For persons who walk in please bring a bag, box or wagon. This is an Ohana Produce Plus Distribution and Senior Food Box Program, Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), a one a month, federal program helping low-income kupuna.

Parent Participation Preschool is a three-phased program for parents to assist in their child's transition from home to school. Each phase requires a different amount of participation. The children progress through the program based on their development and mastered skills not age. -Pueo (Phase 1): Children begin a foundational program where they are introduced to a more structured learning environment. The programs main focuses are colors, shapes, letter recognition, and more. The class meets twice a week for 2 hours. This class requires 100% parents participation. -Honu (Phase 2): Children entering Honu possess some basic, fundamental preschool abilities and are inspired to work independently, explore academics, use their creativity, and learn the importance of a daily routine. Honu focuses on phonic, basic math skills and writing. The class meets twice a week for 3 hours. Offers weekly individual or group counseling focused on teaching independent living skills for youth aged 12 to 25. Maintains a training apartments from young men aged 17.5 to 19 who are in transition from foster care, group homes, shelters or institutions and also a home for young women transitioning out of foster care to independent living (training apartment participants are expected to have jobs and pay for rent and food). Also a home for pregnant and parenting teens.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Perinatal support services provides case management services to women who receive their prenatal care at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center (WCCHC) from the time they enter prenatal care until 3 months postpartum. Perinatal support services also offers prenatal classes to pregnant women and their partners in the Waianae community.

The Caregiver Foundation provides support for the caregivers and individuals needing care through practical and emotional support services and educational programs. Provides comprehensive care coordination, financial management, guardianship, conservatorship, trusteeship, community education programs and caregiver support groups.

Family Support Hawai'i provides a comprehensive array of supportive services for prenatal women, infants and toddlers, including those with disabilities, preschool-aged children. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. (ELR) Early Learning Readiness (ELR) for Family, Friend and Neighbor Caregivers is a research-based community program that gives young children (not in facility-based childcare), high-quality physical, emotional and cognitive experiences. It also equips their teacher, ensuring they start kindergarten ready to learn. The program provides a stimulating, preschool-like experience through learning centers that foster young child development and improve school readiness, while also supporting and developing the skills and knowledge of caregivers. Early Learning Readiness - services are provided at the Aliamanu Military Reservation for the Pearl Harbor locations.

Healthy Mothers Health Babies Coalition of Hawaii (HMHB) offers "Hawaii Cribs for Kids," a safe sleep education course, for low-income, high-risk pregnant women and their families. This program provides education on the risk factors, how to create a safe sleep environment, and tracks the baby's health throughout its first year of life. Health centers and community partners refer income-eligible parents to HMHB, and each eligible family receives a free Pack n' Play crib after completing the class so their child has a safe place to sleep.

PIDF has partnered with Family Programs Hawaii (FPH), and a consortium of other community providers to form Hui Ho'omalu (A Group to Protect and Shelter), all working together to advance Hawaii’s foster care system. Recruits and certifies adoptive parent(s) for children needing an adoptive family. Recruits adoptive families for children who are a ward of the state. Provides adoption services for foster children.

A Cup of Cold Water is an outreach care van ministry of the Episcopal Churches on Maui and Community Friends delivering basic needs of water, nutrition, clothing and comfort to the neediest of Maui's people. Weekly runs are made to the homeless in Central, West and South Maui on days and times when they are not serviced by others. A Cup of Cold Water Care is an all volunteer outreach and all donations go directly to meeting the basic needs (plus a lot of comfort) of the homeless clients served. A Cup of Cold Water does not help with housing.
