We provide services for the families and children in the first 3 years of life. We work with families to support and strengthen them. We provide child growth and development information and positive parenting education to families. Offering home visitation services to eligible families, screening, emotional support to parents and linkage to other needed community services.

Early Childhood Services are provided to children three to six years old with delays in which age appropriate milestones are not yet met. These children typically fall outside the scope of the Department of Education & Special Education Services. The needs of each child are met through professional therapeutic services designed for the child to help them thrive in their home, preschool and community. Our goal is to better prepare the child for kindergarten and beyond by using family engagement techniques and strategies.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. A list of activities, registration dates, and program period information is published in the Midweek prior to registration.

(Food Pantry) Kokua Christian Ministries operates a food pantry and provides fresh and non perishable food to those in need.

Operates after-school program, holiday, summer, intersession, waiver days, located at Moiliili Community Center and Jefferson A+, Kaahumana A+ and Lunalilio A+ programs. Transports children from Hokulani, Lunalilo, Kahala, Wilson and UH Lab school. Volunteer opportunities in the children and senior program. Also in teaching classes, community programs, youth development and administration.

(Youth Technology Education) We offer several programs through the year for kids to learn about new technologies through a place-based lens.

Kumu Kahua means "Original stage" or "Platform". Kumu Kahua is a Playwright's Theatre in the State of Hawaii, providing the local community with 35 years of plays written by local playwrights for the community to attend. The 100 seater black box theatre performs five plays during its Season of Shows. Produces theatre oriented towards Hawaii's people, in their multi-ethnic diversity. Acts as a platform for local writers as well as hands-on operation for local actors, directors and theatre technicians. Offers classes in playwriting and acting. Accepts volunteers to assist with fundraising, box office, ushing, threatre technicians and phone duties.

HUGS visits children with a life-threatening illness and their families while hospitalized for treatment. Interactive play with hospitalized child and/or siblings to relieve stress of hospitalization.

The Lyon Arboretum is a 193.5 acre botanical garden operated by the University of Hawaii. Offers tours, classes, workshops and a K-12 program for visiting school children.

(PPP) Parent Participation Programs (PPP) meets twice a week at different communities around Oahu. The goal of PPP is to support parents as their child’s first teacher. Hawaiian values such as Aloha (love), Malama (Care), Kuleana (Responsibility) and Laulima (Many Hands) are some of the daily values practiced in class. Learning centers are set up to support hands-on learning and encourage parent/child interactions. Our hope is keiki will: Develop the skills, knowledge and experiences for life and learning; Develop a strong sense of self, ‘ohana and where they come from; Recognize and practice Hawaiian language and culture. This program helps makua: Recognize how to become advocates for their keiki; Engage in safe, healthy practices for keiki well-being; Recognize and practice Hawaiian language and culture. Aloha Harvest rescues quality donated food from hotels, restaurants, food distributors, caterers, businesses and individuals then delivers the food "free of charge" to approved social service agencies that feed the needy, hungry and homeless on Oahu. We store nothing. What is picked up each day is delivered that same day to the agencies. The drivers' routes are Sunday-Saturday 5:30 am - 1:00 pm.

(VASH, Travelers Aid of Honolulu) The mission of Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) is to share Aloha with visitors who have been victims of a crime or other adversities, and to provide follow-up assistance and support in an effort to create a positive memory of their stay in our islands. The type of assistance provided varies on a case by case basis. Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii offers assistance and support through information and referrals, emergency ground transportation, and resources for meals and lodging. Assistance is also provided with changes to travel plans and for emotional support. We do not pay for airline tickets, hotel stays, medical or dental expenses, and funeral expenses.

These items are received by the local offices by donations from others and through our TLC Catalog. Support Groups: The office is a clearinghouse of information on local self-help and support groups that provide emotional and educational help. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households.
