Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawaii is dedicated to serving Hawaii’s children, families, and communities with aloha and programs that strengthen health, wellness, and resilience against substance misuse through awareness, education, and action. Programs include: after-school/in-school evidence-based programs for youth; youth leadership development; family strengthening workshops; youth and family counseling services; training and capacity building with communities; the Hawaii Prevention & Treatment Resource Center which offers substance use prevention, treatment, and related educational materials and resources to the general public; the Hawaii Pacific Center for Excellence providing training for the workforce in the field of substance abuse prevention, treatment, health, and wellness; and TeenLink Hawaii, a teen resource for information on critical health and social issues impacting youth.

Hina Mauka objective is provide a comprehensive services delivery system of residential, day treatment and aftercare levels of care. Hina Mauka’s objective is to provide a separate track for co-occurring disorders consumers deemed appropriate. Another objective is to provide a longer term treatment perspective that incorporates the stages of change research to “meet the consumer where they are”. Cognitive restructuring techniques; motivational enhancement interventions and motivational interviewing techniques; relapse prevention; and other services are designed to help the consumer foster independence, connect to community-based services, and participate in support activities to increase stability. Hina Mauka’s objective is to provide a specifically designed curriculum with skill building and process groups that are designed to facilitate a change in thought processes, attitudes, values and behaviors that promotes a greater degree of personal responsibility.

The participants from 33 program sites receive a day filled with activities and excitement with a positive message on staying “Drug Free”. Participants learn the important values in self-esteem, nature lessons, social enhancement skills, utilizing creativity, teamwork and the importance of Staying Drug Free. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Hawaii provides: Free and confidential support services to injured victims and to families and close friends of those who have been killed, Range of free brochures, books on grief, and other literature, Court accompaniment and criminal justice system navigation, An annual candlelight vigil of hope and remembrance held during the holiday season, The possibility of serving on a “Victim Impact Panel” where victims share their stories with people who have been arrested for DUI. MADD Hawaii works closely with the Victim Witness Assistance Division of the Prosecutor's office, with youth programs and young teens in the prevention of underage drinking. Call for support groups for victims of impaired driving and homicide.
