(Helping Hands Hawaii SNAP Outreach Program, HHH SNAP Outreach Program, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program Outreach, SNAP Outreach, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program Outreach, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach) The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. Helping Hands Hawaii’s SNAP outreach program provides help with: -filling out the SNAP application for the Department of Human Services (DHS) -providing interpretive assistance to Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals -facilitating submission of the application to the DHS offices -assisting with follow-up on application status as needed -helping SNAP benefit recipients to maintain those benefits -participating with DHS-contracted providers to conduct SNAP nutrition educational activities designed to ensure proper use of the SNAP benefit, including how to use the benefit and still be able to eat nutritious meals. Applicants may be eligible for SNAP if their household income meets Federal Income Guidelines. If the household appears to meet DHS eligibility requirements, they will be scheduled for an in-person interview with a SNAP outreach worker. Anyone who is interested in applying for SNAP benefits may call for more details. There will be a short pre-screening intake over the telephone (usually takes 10-15 minutes). Our staff will schedule an appointment with you and help you complete the form. Program is also offered in the community or at the applicant's home (by appointment) as needed. The mission of the YWCA of O'ahu aquatics department is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where learning to swim and recreation through aquatics is the focus. One of the main tenets of the program is to encourage participants to do their best with their abilities. With an emphasis on positive reinforcement, the program seeks to build confidence and self-esteem in each person. We have pools at both Laniakea and Kokokahi, and offer a comprehensive swim program at each location. All aquatic staff members are certified Water Safety Instructors (Wintertree Software Inc.). Swim classes are offered on various days and times for your convenience. All swim classes have a low student-to-teacher ratio.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer.
