Hina Mauka’s objective is to provide a separate track for co-occurring disorders consumers deemed appropriate. Cognitive restructuring techniques; motivational enhancement interventions and motivational interviewing techniques; relapse prevention; and other services are designed to help the consumer foster independence, connect to community-based services, and participate in support activities to increase stability. Hina Mauka’s objective is to provide a specifically designed curriculum with skill building and process groups that are designed to facilitate a change in thought processes, attitudes, values and behaviors that promotes a greater degree of personal responsibility.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens.
The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households.
