(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. Aloha Church Assembly of God provides a food pantry and food distribution to those in need.

Serves current and former foster youth in Hawai‘i who are transitioning out of the foster care system, into adulthood. The program provides a group process for youth to celebrate their emancipation from foster care and to assist them in planning for their independence. Youth Circles build upon the philosophy and skills enriched through years of engaging families in ‘Ohana Conferences. Provides special education services based on individual need and as agreed upon in the student Individualized Educational Program (IEP).

Offers rewards of up to $1000 to tipster who give information that leads to arrest or indictment of persons committing crimes or for the recovery of stolen property. All calls are confidential. (Emergency and Transitional Housing Programs) HOPE emergency shelter programs provide shelter for families and individuals that are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. (Ka'u Hospital) Operates acute and SN/IC (Skilled Nursing/Intermediate Care) nursing facility and other medical services. Provides laboratory services and diagnostic imaging services. Operates a 24-hour emergency room.

(Food Pantry) Living Waters Assembly of God provides food for those in need.

Accredited representative for claims and appeals for VA benefits. Advocates for rights of, benefits and services for veterans. Accepts volunteer drivers with valid driver's license and safe driving record. Volunteers will be transporting veteran's to and from VA medical appointments. Office is located on Tripler Army Medical Center grounds.

Kokua Support Services provides Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient, and After Care Treatment for clients who require this level of care.

Provides weekly Tutu Support Group that includes counseling, advocacy, information and referral, education and training. Program is for grandparents who are raising or caring for their grandchildren. Agency also umbrellas an outrigger canoe paddling program for youth 10 years and up, and adults. Oldest adult paddling with program is 83 years old.

Staff provides care coordination, information and referral, crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and networking with others in the community who have the resources and knowledge to assist in meeting the needs of the association's consumers and their families.

Conducts a residential Christian program for men with alcohol/substance abuse and social adjustment problems. Program includes personal/group counseling,education, recreation, and work therapy to regain self-respect and living skills.

Offers and provides a comprehensive program of educational, health, and social services to income or categorically-eligible children and families in order to promote school readiness. -Early Head Start - provides prenatal support services to expectant mothers and their families, as well as educational services for children zero to three years of age through islandwide home-based home visiting. -Head Start - provides preschool educational services to children three to five years-old through center and home-based options islandwide. Parents are the key to success in Head Start and Early Head Start. As members of the Parent Committees and Head Start Policy Council, parents help decide how the program is operated. Parents are invited to volunteer in all phases of the Head Start program at any time.

Provides meetings for people with a drug problem. Some meetings are limited to substance abusers or women only. On August 8, 2023, a series of wildfires affected the city of Lahaina, on the island of Maui. Please call the Maui Helpline for the current status of meetings on the island.

Serves environmentally at-risk families. Participants include prenatal women and families with children birth to three years old. The infants and children are considered at-risk for child abuse and neglect and developmental delays. The program provides comprehensive home visitation, child development screening and intervention, as well as psychosocial assessment, and motivational readiness for treatment and brief counseling. The intensity of the program varies over the course of service, starting with weekly home visits, and reducing the frequency as the family and child meet their goals.

The mission of the YWCA of O'ahu aquatics department is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where learning to swim and recreation through aquatics is the focus. One of the main tenets of the program is to encourage participants to do their best with their abilities. With an emphasis on positive reinforcement, the program seeks to build confidence and self-esteem in each person. We have pools at both Laniakea and Kokokahi, and offer a comprehensive swim program at each location. All aquatic staff members are certified Water Safety Instructors (Wintertree Software Inc.). Swim classes are offered on various days and times for your convenience. All swim classes have a low student-to-teacher ratio.
